Hello!

Today is really stressing me out...

University is killing me with its stupid bureaucracy!

I have passed my bachelor and have been trying to apply for receiving my certificate so I can leave the student life behind and start an exciting new chapter as an adult with a real job and actual wages that pay the bills. Well actually not, I will officially stay a student until the end of the semester, but you guys get my point right?

I'm sick of uni, it has taken me way too long to finish my studies anyway. I want to leave now and never go back there because I'm so fed up. But no, uni does not let me go so easily.

Fill in this form, go and get that confirmation about whatever crap they want. I ran back and forth for four hours today with documents and forms and I'm still not able to apply for my credentials because in 2011 some lecturer forgot to forward my grade for an exam to the examination office.

Can you believe how shocked I was today when they told me that I would still have to pass another exam?! After I already passed my degree?! Seriously?!

Fortunately we were able to find out that this is not the case. Phew! However I still have to postpone my application for another week now and that sucks because I'm so impatient.

Okay, enough agitation, now for something positive: I found a fantastic "Irish Imports" playlist on Spotify! Lots of nice Irish music, so perfect for calming down after a stressful day. Now I'm in my bedroom, peacefully blogging away my time with the window open and a cup of coffee next to me. Life can be quite nice too sometimes...

I've been listening to the first 30 songs already and love it! Good mix of Irish folk, rock, pop and some classics. This would definitely also be great for a roadtrip along the Irish coasts in the summer. If I could only go and book a flight now... 

The only thing I need to feel completely good again is food so I think I'll go and improvise something in the kitchen now. Do you know fried eggs on toast with cheese and ham? Awesome snack! Yup I think fried eggs it is.

Hi loves!

After the excursion to the wedding outfit, which was unusually chic for my kind of style, I'm now back with something "totally me" just in time to herald the weekend.

The temperatures have dropped a little here so that this week I gladly wore my beloved tights and beanies again and mixed the rather autumnal pieces with the floral summer dress. If you ask me this is a perfect transition outfit because it combines the best of both seasons.

So, what's been going on lately? I finally got my act together, kicked my own lazy butt and finished the preparations for the bachelor thesis. I'm finally convinced to officially register and write this shit! I'm so fed up with being a student, I want to move on to the next level. I want a fixed income, a job where I can leave work behind at the end of the day instead of coming home and resting but having a bad conscience because I should actually spend my nights with my head in the books.

After something particular happened last weekend I'm also done with dating. I won't talk about the incident, but let's just say life taught me another lesson about dishonest people and this made me so mad at my whole situation that I decided to say "Screw it!" and quit the whole dating thing immediately. I don't want to meet more douche bags, I'm fine without them and in the next three months I will rather concentrate on university and be a good student for once.

My new plan is to still go out but cut off a conversation on the spot if it should come down to the topic of going on a date. I'm no longer willing to do this, I won't waste my time on all these idiots out there. I don't know any girl who has found her Mr. Right at a club, pub or other party location anyway, so there's no point in trying. Period.

Alright, let's talk weekend plans! I'm not sure about tonight, should I stay at home and curl up in bed with a movie or go out and have some drinks with a friend and his new flat mate? I might decide spontaneously after a little nap later. For tomorrow night a dubstep party it is.

Hi guys!

How are you today? 
I have been really busy studying for an oral exam for university which was planned to take place today - but it did not.
The funny thing is that when I arrived, the lecturer told me that according to my study course's examination regulations I wouldn't have to do this exam because I already passed all necessary exams  last semester.

Haha, I was so flabbergasted - I didn't know if I should be happy or not. Later on I decided to be happy about it - life's funny sometimes.

Okay, now let me introduce you to one of my new favourite dresses: this is my new Promod floral dress! I love the colours so much, I love how soft, light and breezy the cotton is! And I love the pink Peter Pan collar - unfortunately you can't see it in the photos because my hair always covers it. Bummer, it's such a pretty collar! I'll wear this a lot so I'll make sure to have the collar appear on the photos next time. ;)

Apart from the above everything is rather uneventful round here. I work a lot this semester break, but I also try to find some new hobbies to keep me challenged. I consider to do more crafty stuff in the future and I'm excited about how it will turn out.

Hm, it's Sunday again. Why do the weekends always pass so fast? Even the uneventful ones fly by before you can say "weekend"!

Only on more week to go until I will return to Budapest for another business trip, only 3 more weeks until the new semester begins, only one month more to go until Patrick and I o to Ireland. This is all going so fast, I want a slow-motion button for life!

There is this quote from a German movie (Absolute Giganten) I have to think of now, it's something along these lines:

"You know what I think sometimes? There should always be music. For everything that you do. And if everything is really screwed up, at the there would still be the music. And at this point where it is most beautiful, the record should skip, so you only hear this moment on repeat."

Speaking of time flying by: the other day I have made my schedule for the new semester and almost fell from my chair when I saw that I'm almost done with my bachelor studies! For some different unpleasant reasons I've been studying much longer than expected, 12 semesters so far to be exact. A few semesters ago it started getting on my nerves and I have been feeling the urge to complete my studies since then. Now I'm almost at the finish line and it feels strange because I got so used to this inner voice telling me "You won't ever finish, you slow coach!".

If everything goes well I can finally write my bachelor thesis next semester. Actually I'm already pretty scared, but oh what a relief at the same time! :)

Honestly I'm always slightly embarrassed when it comes this topic and when I have to justify why my bachelor studies take me so long, but connected to that, I wanted to tell you about the amazing courses I'll take this spring/summer!

First of all I plan to refresh my French language skills as long as I have the chance to (meaning as long as I can get free language education at university). I'm so looking forward to learning French again! In junior high I had French for four years, but I wasn't motivated at all then. Now I am! I love the elegance and fluent sound of the French language and can't wait to learn the grammar and pronunciation properly this time.

Furthermore I'm really looking forward to some other seminars about media ethics, bio ethics, the body-mind problem and cultural theory.

Oh by the way: I took these photos at a cool place I found in the forrest near Schloss Eller, my new favourite location to take outfit shots without being disturbed. Okay a cyclist or walker every once in a while, but apart from that there is not a soul. So pleasing! Like I said last time, I'm starting to enjoy the silence there.

The outfit includes another new piece I brought home from Budapest: the skirt was marked down to 7€ in the H&M sale. Yes I know I have H&M here in Düsseldorf too, but I can't resist a good bargain - even when being abroad ;)

warm blood rush

Hi guys!

It's a sunshiny warm day - who would have expected that after weeks of autumn weather in summer? - and I'm totally excited about my schedule for the next semester. Yesterday evening I talked to a friend on the phone, we were gossiping about these co-students who prepare their schedules for the next term right on the first day of semester break and who are planning and pre-reading and looking forward to the seminars instead of being the cliché student who parties away the holiday. Well, now I must admit after I finished creating my new schedule I'm also a bit excited because I can finally see the end of my bachelor studies drawing nearer.
I've been a BA student for so long now, too long actually (but that's an other story...), it's time to finish for me. If I follow through I'll be able to start writing my bachelor thesis this time next year, that's awesome!

Thanks for the comments on my belated blog birthday post! I can't believe it's been a whole year already, time really flies. I wonder how old this blog will get... well, we'll see ;)

Anyway, so the new semester is on and I have so much more to do than I had to in the last ones. On the one hand I'm critical about all the term papers because I'm a lazy procrastinator but on the other hand I'm full of beans to finish my bachelor studies as soon as possible so I can move on to the master studies. My schedule is full of interesting seminars, mainly philosophy. There is "Pseudo-Sciences and the Belief in the Paranormal", "Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics" and also a really cool Anglistics seminar called "Discovering Horror". I can't wait to read more Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne and all. Of course there's much more on my schedule, but the mentioned ones are the most interesting classes.

How do you like my new huge bag? I got it pretty low priced at Ebay, it was about 5€ including the postage. The seller probably wasn't in the mood to write a detailed article description because the auction title only said "big bag", so I think I was the only person who found it. It could be vintage but I'm not really sure about it, well it's very spacious either way so everything is fine.
The outfit is casual and comfy, perfect for a sunny day on campus. It seems Germany is skipping spring and directly pushes along to summer, we hit the 20C° again today and it felt like a mild summer day in June or July. However the mornings are still rather crisp so I put on an in-between coat before I left the house.






Patrick left for a skiing holiday with a good friend today and now I have the apartment all for myself. He'll return on Sunday so I plan to meet friends, watch movies and do the housework to kill time and to keep me occupied in the evenings. It feels strange to come home after work or uni and nobody's there and nobody will come. We've been living together here for almost two years and I got so used to it that I can't imagine living alone anymore (although I lived alone for three or four years before). Alas, we're all creatures of habit right?

One of the good things about Patrick's absence is that I can cook what I want without respect for all the things he doesn't like. When I cook for the both of us I have to avoid most vegetables (the only exceptions are spinach and red cabbage) and all kinds of fruits, so now you know why I'm always ill and overweight ;) No I'm just kidding, of course I do eat vegetables and fruits but in the majority of cases not in our principal meals, rather for breakfast or supper.
Anyway, today I immediately seized the chance and cooked a tasty pan-fried meal with gnocchi, red peppers, broccoli, ham and a creamy herbs sauce.

And there's still something left for lunch tomorrow, yum :)

Yes, I'm finally back to blogging - and I mean real posts, not the gap filler posts of the last week ;)

So today was a good day: no work, only uni. I noticed that I haven't told you about this term's courses yet and I'm not sure if you're interested in Philosophy and Anglistics, but I'm lacking of a good topic today so... :)

First course this morning was "modern age philosophy" where we get an overview about the most important contemporary philosophers like Bacon, Hobbes, Locke, Kant etc. I really like it! It's so nice to just sit back and listen (well of course it's only nice if you're interested in it).

Next was an Anglistics course called "Morpho-Syntax", gawd that's something I don't like at all. It is about a certain field of language studies but I'm not good at it so I really have no idea about what it's exactly about ;)
I remember something with constituency tests in sentences?!
Okay, I promise I'll listen more attentively next time...

You know what sucked most about uni? Well, you can see that I wore a dress. The first course this morning was so well attended that I didn't get a seat, so I had to sit on the floor, or to be more precise: on the stairs on the side of the seat rows in the lecture hall - with a dress!
Oh my, can you imagine how uncomfortable it was to sit there without revealing too much? I hate such situations. In the last 30 minutes my right foot even went to sleep from the strange posture, awesome.
It's not so nice to see that the tuition fees are spend on a huge new building for the economists although the Philosophical Faculty overflows with students.

Anyway, that was my day. Well, half of it (the other half is gladly staying inside while outside fall is presenting its coldest and nastiest weather).
