looking back on 2014

It was a year of colourful outfits with playful prints.

important events

A broken foot, two weddings (one of them being my mum's second one), my 28th birthday and finishing university as a Bachelor of Arts.

the big move
I made the decision to follow my Australian boyfriend to his home country.
After having lead a long-distance relationship for 8 months I finally took the big leap, got rid of most of my belongings, left Germany behind and moved to Australia.
My boyfriend had left Germany in February and when I went to Australia in October we were finally reunited again.

That was my year.
I have made lots of changes, readjusted my views on many things in life, set new priorities.
I closed old chapters and opened new ones, achieved a lot that had seemed impossible for me before.
I worked hard to reach my goals, discovered new sides about me, said goodbye to my home and hello to a foreign country.
2014, you were not easy for me, you were a challenge!
I'm glad you were challenging though because you have brought me further.

Now you're over and all that's left to do is say
"Hello 2015, I hope you'll be a good one for me!".

Happy new year to all my lovely readers!
Thank you so much for supporting my blog!

goodbye 2013

Hello lovelies!

Damn, another year is over and I'm feeling really old again.
However it was still a good year, I'll look back on it with positive feelings.
I remember last New Year's Eve I was angry and sad about 2012 and glad that it was over and that I could start from scratch after a tiring breakup and moving to a new apartment.
2013 has taught me a lot about myself, about how to get over unpleasant things, about enjoying to be alone and spending time with myself, about new beginnings and new possibilities.
It was the year of new friendships and since September also of a new relationship (which ironically started exactly one year and one day after the breakup with P).
In the course of the year I finally got lucky, happy and content with my life again.
Thanks 2013 for being such a great year after all!

As for 2014 I don't have any real resolutions yet, I just want to make it a good year full of new adventures and experiences.
How about you? Any resolutions yet? Or opinions about 2013?

I wish you all a happy new year my dear readers!

happy 2013!

Hi guys!

Happy new year!
How was your New Year's Eve? I hope all of you had fun waving goodbye to last year?
I'm really glad it is over now. Welcome 2013, bring it on!

Can't wait to see what lies ahead of me now. My bachelor thesis, end of student life, beginning of the "real job" life, I'm excited!

These photos here are a tiny recap of my NYE. Actually I have many more photos but mostly of people I don't even know - and it would be strange and probably even illegal (?!) to upload them without permission. Friends of mine took me with them, we went to a private party - hence all the foreign people in the photos.
Nevertheless it was a fun night and I'm so glad I didn't sit around at home all alone.

Where did you celebrate NYE? And how?
Do you have resolutions?

My only resolution is to get rid of the "holiday pounds" (thank you Christmas...), well okay and to make 2013 an awesome year of course!

Love,

owl let you go 2012

Hi guys!

Woot woot it's the last day of the year! Is everyone prepared for party tonight?
Well I am. Actually I had no plans apart from booze and pizza with me, myself and I but I got a last minute chance to join a raclette and a private party. Would I say no to that and rather spend the night alone? No f*cking way! I was so eager to celebrate that this crappy year with all its disappointments is over - so I will do it. Day saved.

So this is the last post in 2012. Farewell you annoying year. And concerning the blog, here's to more nice outfits and better photo quality next year! ;)

As you might remember I moved to another part of the city two months ago. I already knew the area a bit, but still there's a lot left to explore in the new neighbourhood, e.g. places to take photos.!
Yesterday I had absolutely nothing to do - well okay, I could have written an essay for university, but anyway... Instead I went out to get some fresh air and took a walk to look for a good place to take outfit photos. When I had found one it was already dawning, hence the crappy light and quality (I still don't know how to handle my camera in different lighting, will have to practice a bit more or get a better lens...).

The outfit mostly contains of new pieces that I have bought in the winter sale lately. I'm in love with my new owl shirt which was only 7 bucks. And this pretty warm and woolly jacket is a lucky strike from the visit to the Esprit outlet two days ago.
How do you like it?

I wish everyone some lovely last hours of 2012, a fun night with lots of celebration and positive thoughts and a good start into the new year!
How are you going to celebrate tonight?

Until next year,

Christmas Day outfit

Hi guys!

This is the second and last Christmas post for this year - I'm already a little late, but anyway...
Christmas Day was spent at my Dad's place where we had dinner, walked the dog and watched movies - again a very uneventful and laid back day.
I don't even know why I dressed up, actually I could have spent the day in pyjamas, but for the sake of getting dressed up I put together this simple little outfit.
If you saw yesterday's post you already know tights and boots. The heart-printed Mango cardi is a sale bargain from earlier this year and the army green blouse is a recent sale bargain and new favourite of mine.

Actually I'm glad that Christmas is over and that this year is coming to an end. I already had to make a brand-new start two months ago, but still I can't wait to use the beginning of a new year as an official symbol for starting from scratch, getting used to the single life and moving on from everything that happened in 2012.

Anyway, here are a few last Christmas impressions before we move on to the new year.

Have a lovely day!

and in the end it's just another year

Hi guys!

Wow the last post in 2011, another year is almost over. God I'm always melancholic at the end of each December, it's so unfair that the older you get, the more time flies.
Anyway, how are you going to spend your New Year's Eve?
Patrick and I are going to have a cozy evening at home this year, just filled sweet peppers, sparkling wine, DVDs and the two of us. We always were at different parties the last years and it was always nice but, as I think, NYE is totally overrated, so this time we're not even putting an effort in making it spectacular.

♥ dress worn as tunic: new look via ebay uk ♥ cardi: pimkie ♥ jeans: esprit ♥ shoes: goertz ♥ hat: kleiderkreisel ♥

I didn't plan to post an outfit today as we only left the apartment to do some grocery shopping for tonight. I actually didn't even wash my hair, hence the hat haha. I simply threw on what I wore to work yesterday and thought my new dress would be worth taking some pictures. So I went out on the balcony and took some funny shots in the rain.
I really wish I could wear the dress as a dress instead of combining it with jeans, but it's scandalously short, which is not very flattering for my legs. However I managed to get rid of the 1,5 extra kilos that I gained over Christmas, so hopefully I'll make it to even lose some more in the new year.

Now I'm going to prepare the food for tonight and finally wash my hair so I can start into 2012 without an itching head ;)
I haven't managed to do a 2011 blog recap yet, it will follow in the course of the next days.

I wish you all tons of fun tonight! Have a fantastic New Year's Eve and a happy new year my dear readers!!!

new year's eve

Hi guys!

Happy (belated) new year to all of you! I hope you had a great NYE!
I'm a bit late with my outfit photos from Friday, but it was so nice to just hang around at home and do nothing after this long night yesterday.

We spent NYE at a friend's apartment with some of the guys from Patrick's band. It was a theme party, as I told you the theme was glamour and I had a hard time looking glamourous because I just can't pretend to be something I'm not. However my outfit turned out pretty chic, I was content with it because I had not expected that it would look so good.
I think it's a good choice to go for a kinda chic men's wear look if you feel out of place in glitter dresses ;)

♥ blazer, belt & flower hairclip: h&m ♥ blouse: gina tricot ♥ pants: new yorker ♥ shoes: fifth avenue ♥ jewelry: accessorize ♥

Unfortunately I don't have good photos of the party itself because my camera once again couldn't handle the bad light conditions indoors. Furthermore I don't even know some of the people in the photos, so I'd find it rude to upload them without permission.
It was a nice evening, but nothing really special. There were snacks and drinks and chit-chat, but basically we we're just standing or sitting around and waiting for 2011.
Now we are thinking about going on vacation next year over the Christmas time and NYE to avoid this everlasting vicious circle of high expectations followed by disillusionment. It's always like "Yeah new year's Eve will be great!" and then afterwards "Ehm it was lame...".
I must admit I enjoyed all the well-dressed men though, I like men in suits.

At midnight I went outside to ignite my family-friendly children's firework because I'm afraid of the real stuff with explosions and sparks and all. I especially hate these insanely loud firecrackers that can make you deaf at the drop of a hat and I almost freaked out when some people started throwing them from the balcony. Oh that makes me aggressive... but I calmed down after midnight.

Btw I ruined my new shoes in the snow slush because on Friday of all days the snow started melting.
Oh and I officially admit defeat! I can't wear high heels longer than an hour! I don't know how all you ladies out there walk in high heels everyday, do you have fakir feet? Or are they numb?
I don't know, I simply can't stand it. I wore these shoes all night and thought my feet would just fall off afterwards when I took the shoes off in the car. I swore to myself I will only wear them again if I know I'll be sitting most of the time. Kudos to all of you that are living in high heels but I love me my comfy sneakers ;)

How was your NYE?

Have a great day and a good start into the first week of 2011!
