new goals and a new dress

new goals and a new dress outfit post title

Hello lovelies!

The other day I told you that concerning my move to Australia everything seems to be falling into place finally. Now some things are up to me too, for example the visa, the flight, the budget for my first weeks without a job there.
On Monday I applied for my visa and as the money for it was taken from my account today I'm pretty sure I'll hear back from the agency soon.
The next step will be my apartment. As soon as I receive the confirmation for my visa I will give my landlord a notification and cancel my contract. From that time onwards I will have to get rid of everything I don't want to put into storage (luckily I'll be able to put all my stuff into my dad's basement). Also and most importantly I need to book a flight soon (the sooner the cheaper).
And last but not least and actually the biggest goal hovering above everything else: the budget. I will work a lot and try to save up as much as possible in the course of the next three months.
These are the things I'm determined to achieve until October.

Hand in hand with these goals above will go a shopping ban. I have bought some last important things last week that I wanted and needed but from now on I won't spend any more money on clothing, accessories and such. I will only allow myself to swap because it's a good way of compensating the shopping lust and I can still get rid of pieces I don't wear anymore, so actually swapping is always a win-win situation.
The only exception, something I really HAVE to buy, is a big suitcase!

So I've set my goals, I've written them down (which always helps) and now I have to work for them. And I want to work for them! Australia I'll be coming soon! :)

As for the outfit: the dress is a lovely new piece that I bought second hand via Ebay before my shopping ban. It was an absolute bargain, only 6 € and the adorable tiny dots and the cute collar made me fall in love with it immediately. It's a dress that doesn't need many accessories because it works on its own, that's why I only wore my favourite belt and the golden bracelet with it. Simple basics like denim jacket and black sneakers and I was ready to go.
How do you like it?

Have a lovely day!

the natural progress of things

the natural progress of things outfit post title

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the new readers, I'm glad you follow along now! Thanks a lot for supporting my little blog here!
I hope your week has been a nice one so far?
I have so many news I don't know where to begin.
First of all I was finally able to get an overview of my budget for going to Australia in autumn. I will have to work a lot over the summer but I will eventually be able to finally go to Perth an see my boyfriend again yaayy! Also I'll apply for a new passport and for the visa next week and I'm so so happy to finally see some progress because I really can't wait to go and explore Down Under!
Furthermore my boyfriend finally found a new place for himself where I can move in too as soon as I'm there.
Everything seems to be falling into place slowly, it's such a good feeling!

In addition to all these good news I also got the ball rolling in regards to an internship. If everything works out I'll be an intern in Online Marketing before I leave Germany in autumn. I'm keeping my fingers crossed because that would be a great opportunity to gain experience for potential future jobs in Perth.
And in case of financial emergency there's still the coffee shop job so at the moment I'm pretty booked out job-wise. Oh well, despite lots of work I'm happy to see that I'm finally getting somewhere with my plans.

As for the outfit I probably have to explain that German summer weather is unsettled. Last week when I took these pictures it was rather chilly and rainy outside and now that I post the look it's 26°C and clear blue sky. So don't be confused when I post summery and not so summery outfits in turns. I'm not crazy but the weather is!

By the way don't forget to enter my recent giveaway if you haven't already!
Lovely necklaces are up for grabs!

Happy Thursday!

the capital of catalunya

Hi guys!

Waaah, I have the greatest news - well, okay they're not very exciting, but I'm SO happy about it that I have to exaggerate ;)

I'm going to Barcelona next week!

In the course of the last weeks I've mentioned my upside-down private life here and there in the posts. And I might also add as extra information that I'm not a very spontaneous person concerning most aspects of life.
Due to these points it is a wonder that this Barcelona trip will take place!
Patrick has surprisingly gotten some rest vacation before changing his job, I have surprisingly managed to scrape together some little savings and yesterday we have booked the flights and accommodation for Barcelona, "la capital de Catalunya".
I can't wait to escape the daily grind and problems of the last couple of weeks!

Has anyone of you ever been to Barcelona? Do you have some advice for me what places to visit there? :)

From my outfit you can clearly tell that fall transition weather has found its way to Germany. It's pretty unsettled, but I think it's fun though because I can wear my summer dresses with flats or boots, cardis or parkas, I can try out looks with or without tights and socks. I love fall!
This cute plaid dress is one of my favourites since I swapped it a few months ago. The last time I styled it similarly here, only a wee bit more summery (however this summer was rather cold, that's why I wore black tights in July).
For now for the transition I added the leo scarf to keep my neck warm, the beloved new boots with socks and also an army parka that's not in the photos.
Et voilĂ , a perfect fall look for me!

Like I said above: if anyone of you has some Barcelona tips for me please leave me a comment! I'm eager to find some nice spots to visit, I'll search via internet over the weekend, but of course nothing is better than the advice of people who have already been there.

Happy Friday!

new pieces and a resolution

Hi guys!

New year, new resolutions right? I have made up a plan even before Christmas, here it is: after all of the gift shopping before the holidays i wanted to grab some nice bargains in the after-Christmas sales but I was also aware of the fact that most of my money would be spent for a new mattress as Patrick and I have been getting backache every morning for some months now. I also thought of other (rather pricey) things apart from clothing that have been on my wishlist for so long....
Well, in the end I made the decision to finally grow up and don't spend all my money on clothing and accessories. Okay, I admit I could never live without buying anything pretty that comes my way, BUT for now I don't want to buy clothing, accessories and nail polishes for the next 2 months and then we will see.
So I allowed myself some last shopping with the rest of my Christmas money a few days ago and here is what I got (skip the pics if you're only interested in the resolution):

♥ hosiery: primark ♥ hair clips: claire's ♥

♥ satchel: primark ♥

♥ bag: cyh680000 ebay shop ♥

♥ dress: monki ♥

♥ shirt, cardi + belt: primark ♥

♥ bag, bracelet, hair clips + alice band: monki ♥

There you go, I snatched some nice bargains. I always say I'm a hunter and gatherer ;)

Anyway, it's enough shopping for now. This year I plan an expensive Ireland holiday with Patrick and the other day a friend and me decided to get away from the daily grind by spending some days in Budapest next month. I can't wait to travel more in the future, that's really something I will neglect shopping for!
Furthermore Patrick got some news at work: he works for a German TV station and they will send him to Poland for the European Football Championships for 7 weeks in spring/summer. That's amazing but I will miss him a lot, so I also plan to visit him in Cracow once or twice which will be another expense.
To cut a long story short: no more shopping! The only thing I will do is swapping, but I won't spend money on new stuff.

As a motivation and to keep my objects of desire in mind I wrote down this little reminder wishlist:

♥ a Canon Eos1000D tutorial book
♥ a photography seminar
♥ a big and pretty brown leather camera bag
♥ a tripod
♥ an antique drawer for the bedroom
♥ a smartphone
♥ money for traveling

I'd love to be able to tick off all these things at the end of 2012. We'll see how it works, wish me luck!

What are your resolutions??

Happy Wednesday!

new year in sight

Hi guys!

The new year's almost there and I'm looking back at 2010 and at how far my little blog has developed over the past months. It keeps me writing and improving my written English, it keeps me photographing and it keeps me creating new outfits with my student budget - it's so great!
And I "met" so many interesting and stylish people, well at least I met them virtually and they all inspire me so much!

So, actually I have some plans for my blog for next year to improve it:

- better photos! I love taking all sorts of photos and I hope the money I get for Christmas will be enough to finally buy a DSLR

- new design! I'm already planning a new look for my blog in my head and I hope I'll have the time to sit down and realize it between Christmas and New year's Eve

- a new name! I feel like Bad Taste Toast was a good start but as the blog has developed I'm thinking about renaming it soon. However I don't have an idea yet. Any suggestions?

- introducing other blogs! I know this feature is old hat for most other bloggers, but I haven't done this so far and I think it's about time :)

I had never thought that there would be 164 lovely readers following my blog after only 9 months, so this is amazing! You guys are amazing! Thank you :)

Here's to Bad Taste Toast 2.0 in 2011!
