in my drunken head outfit post title

Hello loves!

I'm just dropping in to post this casual look I wore to work yesterday. It features some comfy stretchy jeggings, my trusty Minnetonkas, a nice simple blouse AND one of my favourite cardis. Last month I stocked up on light cardigans for spring/summer because I hate to go out with bare arms, I can't wear tops with less than t-shirt sleeves on their own, I will always need a cardi to feel properly dressed. Just one of the many quirks I have.
I really love the graphic print on this little black and white number, it's perfect with plain shirts and denim.

Last night was time for friends, beers and acoustic music at my favourite hangout Brause. In cooperation with the Düsseldorf-based musician Honig they host acoustic concerts from time to time. This time Honig presented Hello Piedpiper from Cologne and played some songs with him. It was wonderful - great musicians with great voices and great sound. If you like singer/songwriter music you might want to give them a listen.
Here is a beautiful Honig song and video for all those who are interested:

Hope you like it?
I can't wait for the next concert because his voice is even more awesome live.

I hope you all had a good start of the week.
Mine can only get better because Thursday is a holiday and I was able to take Friday and Monday off so I will have a superlong weekend, yay!

Happy Tuesday!

o'god the aftermath

Hi guys!

We have reached the middle of the week, only a few more days to go :)
But let's go back to Monday for a second: Patrick and I went to Cologne to see the tour start of a really cool band, namely La Dispute.
They're a very special band because of their amazing lyrics. The songs all tell stories and are written so authentically, honestly and beautifully. When I listen to certain songs, for example this one, it gives me goosebumps only because of the stories that are told.
Anyway, it was a great concert. The Underground club was completely sold out and overcrowded, everyone wanted to see them. It was their first concert of the new tour and it was an amazing atmosphere, the audience was great, sang and screamed along and the singer was so cute. They are all pretty young, that's why their reactions to the enthusiastic fans were really cute. The singer was so happy when he saw the crowd singing the songs, knowing every single word by heart.
I left my cam at home because I knew it would be overcrowded, so unfortunately I have no photos. But if you're interested, then Google is your friend ;p

Okay, I know you rather see me in playful and colourful outfits on the blog, but all black punkrock/metal looks is actually where I come from. I've been listening to such bands since I was 14 or so and you'll never get the punkrock out of me ;) I like to go back to this style from time to time because it reminds me of the good old times and because I love to underline my pale skin by wearing all black. Furthermore a pair of jeggings and a shirt are so comfortable, hence perfect for a concert. However, compared to the old times, I know now that you don't have to run around like a raggle-taggle tramp to look, ehm, I don't know how to say without using stupid words... let's say to look like you listen to this music!

The t-shirt used to be Patrick's, he's a fan of Norma Jean (the band, not the lady), but last year he sorted it out because it didn't fit him anymore. We were actually sorting out clothes for a colleague of mine who wanted to take them to Kenia (he travels there once a year), but I decided that you can't send a shirt with a "death" and "the aftermath" print to Kenia. However it was also too cool to throw it away, so I kept it.
Last week I found it again and finally altered it, I can wear it as a long shirt now. I could even wear it as a mini dress too if I had the legs.
Anyway, I'm a zombie fan, I love the print. The band is not one of my favourites, but I like some of their stuff too. I plan to make more of Patrick's old shirts mine in the course of the next month... Plus: there are so many awesome band shirts available for men but the girlie shirts most often suck.

Do you own band shirts? Are they altered men's shirts or girlies?

Happy Wednesday!

Hi guys!

I'm just dropping in to post a few pics from last Saturday. I know I'm a bit late, but I finally had the time to sort out the photos that I had collected on my SD-card, so I prepared them yesterday. However unfortunately most of the photos didn't turn out as I wanted them to, I suppose it's because I'm trying to use my cam's manual mode and all the features and settings more now, but I'm still a raw recruit. I still struggle with the manual focus, so most pics were blurred, what a bummer. I will practice and visit a photo seminar soon, I really want to know how everything works because I've been only working with the automatic programs since last Christmas when I bought me the camera and now it's high time to get into the manual stuff.

Patrick's band had another gig last Saturday, so we spent the whole night in Aachen. I try to accompany him to as many gigs as possible because it's always fun to hang out with the band and our friends and because there's so much more going on at the weekend in Aachen than here in Düsseldorf - at least concerning rock music.
Funnily enough I got a comment from a girl yesterday who asked if I was at this concert because she thought she had seen me there. It's a small world isn't it? I have noticed that there are so many bloggers here in the area, I mean Aachen, Cologne, Düsseldorf, the Ruhr basin... we should really try to have a blogger meeting someday.

Above you can see our friend Wolf. He is a better photographer than me and he took the photo of me below and edited it, I borrowed it from his Facebook. Thanks Wolf!

So as I said, most of my pics were crap. I hope I'll be able to take better ones next time...
Anyway, I'm off to enjoy the nice sunshiny weather now because I'm having the day off (yay!). I'm not sure where to go yet, I was thinking of either going to the North Park with its Japanese garden or to a little castle nearby our flat with a lovely bailey and garden. Let's see where I'll end up :)

Have a great day!

Hi guys!

How are you on this lovely Sunday? I hope you had an awesome weekend!
I feel so good today. After an extensive breakfast I edited tons of photos that I still have up my sleeve for future posts, then I went to the gym for almost two hours (which is my record so far). And now Patrick is whipping up supper and I can spend the rest of the day blogging, reading and watching TV.
So, about yesterday: Patrick's band played a concert at the Rock Your Gig Festival in Münster at the Sputnikhalle. I chose a casual and comfortable outfit because I knew we had to run and stand around a lot, carry band equipment and all, so no fancy look ;) Patrick was so kind to take a few shots of me after the festival.

We arrived there just in time to see the first band but they were not my cup of tea. Then it was Tornapart's turn and after their concert we hung out at the merchandise stand when the cutest thing happened: let me explain first that Tornapart is not a famous band, they're a mere hobby band and don't have a record contract, BUT after their show there were two young girls, probably 15 or 16 years old, who asked if they could take a photo with the band. They were supernervous and both of them were shaking when the band formed a semi circle around them so that a friend could take the photo. Isn't it cute? The girls also got autographs and were perfectly happy. I could imagine the scene when they came home yesterday evening: "Look Mum, we got a photo with a REAL band!". Haha ;)

By the way this was the first time that I used my DSLR for taking concert photos. I can't believe how great the picturesd turned out! Okay I edited them to make them look "more dramatic", but most of the photos were even cool without any further ado. Oh I love my new cam!
Now the next purchase will be a tripod.

After Tornapart's show we stayed to watch some more bands, had some yummy pizza and beer, lounged about at the merchandise stand and enjoyed the mild weather. It was sunny but also very windy, a very pleasant weather if you ask me. the boys played tabletop soccer and the girls sat together and chatted.

One of the guitarists thought it would be funny to wear traditional German pants (don't ask...)

How did you spend your weekend? Has anyone watched the Eurovision Song Contest? Do you guys like the winner song from Azerbaijan? My favourite was Iceland, but I also liked the songs of the Ukraine, Ireland and Slovenia too.

Have a nice Sunday! :)

let the music play

Hi guys!

Wow, it's already Tuesday. I hate how time flies! March is almost over although to me it seems like it began just yesterday.
As long as it's semester break I try to work more than the usually permitted 20 hours a week in the semester. It's good that I'm allowed to earn more money during the break because I want to save a bit every month for an Ireland holiday next year.
And I'm still struggling with this never-ending cough! I bet you can't hear it anymore and I'm so fed up with it either.

the outfit photos were taken by Patrick

Anyway, I have some photos from Saturday for you when Patrick's band tornapart played a concert in Aachen. It was a nice evening because I was able to meet some friends and acquaintances who live there and I accompany Patrick to his concerts as often as possible anyway, simply because I'm old-fashioned and think that two persons in a relationship have to support each other in what they do ;)

these photos were taken by René R., a friend of the band

The sound system and the guy at the mixing machine were a mess but it was a cool concert anyway. tornapart are kind of local heroes there because half the band lives and studies in Aachen, so they motivate all their families and friends to visit their concerts when they're in town.

another two photos taken by René R., he even caught me filming the gig :)

It's funny that I'm posting about last weekend although the next weekend is almost there. The next days will be full of work, so time will probably go by so fast again. I don't have any exciting plans, only grocery shopping, an appointment at the doctor's and watching Fringe.
I hope one or two dates for the weekend will arise on short notice.

Have a lovely day!

mini festival tour

Hi guys!

It feels like it's been ages since I posted the last post. I really had no time to show you pictures of the weekend until now because I was out and about each day since Thursday.
Patrick's band tornapart did a mini festival tour consisting of two gigs on Friday and Saturday and then yesterday it was his birthday, so we were totally busy.
It was great fun though, we really had a blast, the festivals were awesome and the weather was sunny sunny sunny. The outfit photos were taken on Friday before I left for the Philo/MuWi Festival, an event with several bands that was organized by our philosophy student's council and some people from the music studies (MuWi).

shirt + purse: h&m, pants: new yorker, belt + shoes: thrifted, necklace: accessorize

My outfit was perfect for the hot and sticky weather: a loose shirt (knotted to define the silhouette a bit), my wonderful feel-like-pyjamas pants, some comfy flats, a cute little purse and a bit of plum lipstick for not looking too casual. Normally I sweat like hell and moan around all day, but I noticed that this year I seem to get along with the heat pretty well. Let's hope it will stay like that until autumn ;)

There were cool bands, yummy cocktails and lovely people, what else do we need?
Here you can see some photos from our Friday:

Saturday was even better! Tornapart played at Rock on Farm, a little festival that some fellow musicians had organized at their parent's farm. So Saturday afternoon we found ourselves driving through an endless forest to reach this beautiful little spot, which is completely surrounded by trees and more trees. They had put up a comparatively big stage on the fields where cows and goats use to graze. Then there were little stands where all the mothers sold delicious homemade goulash soup, pasta napoli and sausages and the fathers tapped beers at the beverage cart. It was a sort of huge family event where everybody tried to help as good as possible, from the little ones to the grandparents, so lovely :)

Here are some Saturday photos:

So, as you can see, our weekend was great! How was yours? :)

Have a nice day!
