Today I would like to tell you about my imaginary dream wedding that I planned in collaboration with Lover.ly, a wedding inspiration and e-commerce engine where you can collect all your ideas in one place in the cloud.

I might not be the girliest girl but if I ever get married I really want a beautiful princess dress with a strapless bustier top and flared skirt. The wedding dress in the picture is perfect with its delicate organza flowers all over, isn't it?

I would add a coordinating clutch and shoes and wear my hair in an updo with a romantic floral headpiece. Add peachy pink blush to the cheeks (and a nice eyeliner to the eyes) et voilà - my dream wedding look.

As for the location: it's got to be Paris, the city of love.

I would celebrate the wedding in one of the many atmospheric little restaurants with French cuisine and amazing wines and later on take pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower. I'm also a fan of the idea of writing our names on the observation deck or letting heart-shaped balloons fly from the very top.

my mum's wedding

Hi lovelies!

I've been waiting to publish this post for so long because I was curious about the professional photos and then it took the photographer ages to upload them to his gallery but now they are finally online and my post is complete.

Voilà: my mum's wedding!

It took place in May, shortly after her birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect.

A little bit of background info: when my mum got married to my dad they were  both very young and didn't have much money so their wedding was simple and convenient, nothing like the pompous deluxe weddings we seen on TV and also not even like the common "normal budget" weddings.

Long story short: after a unspectacular first wedding and a divorce now her second (and hopefully last) wedding had to be amazing - and it was!

She had a customized white suit (for some reason she was totally over white dresses), a beautiful bouquet of red roses, she had picked a delicious wedding cake and a beautiful romantic country style location.

In the morning we had our hair done at the local smalltown hairdresser's shop (who went a bit crazy on me with the curler), afterwards we went to the registry office for the official part and eventually had a big celebration at a country restaurant and guest house far into the night. Luckily the closest friends and family members were so privileged to even have rooms for the night there.

Thanks to the overexposure it looks like I'm wearing white tights but no, these are actually my legs (in transparent tights).

As for the outfit: the crop blazer was a flea market find, the dress is Pimkie, the necklace is Primark and the shoes Deichmann.

The price for the whole outfit was less than 40 €.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, no? ;)

One week after the wedding the newly-weds left for Gran Canaria to spend their honeymoon there.

And now they are living happily ever after...

Hello everybody!

Here it is finally: the first wedding outfit.

As you might have read in my previous posts I got invited to two weddings this May. My mum will get married next week and I'm so excited!

The other wedding took place last week, I just didn't have the time to put together a post until now. My best friend's sister got married and I was really happy to be invited because I've known her since she was born (literally).

I didn't know many of the wedding guests and also didn't want to ask everyone for their permission to upload their pics to my blog, so I can't show you the bridal couple. Let me just say that she is a pretty girl with long blond hair, half of which she wore in a beautiful curly updo. Her dress was a white princess dress with black floral embroidery on the cleavage of the corsage top and along the seam of the flared bottom.

My hair looked pretty wild that day because it was really windy and at the moment I'm growing out the layers which makes it look messy unfortunately.

I tried to style it with a hair straightener for an hour and in the end it still looked like before because it's so straight by nature that no curls last longer than 30 minutes.

The outfit I wore was a lat minute thing. I had bought the dress one week before the wedding and decided to wear it with the only pair of high heels I own. Unfortunately the high heels are nude and two days before the wedding I realized that I would have to find a jacket to match the shoes because the weather forecast was not very promising. So I hurried up an down and back and forth between all the different high street shops to find a jacket in the exact nude tone of the shoes - God it was so stressful! I got really lucky because i finally found a matching jacket in one of these cheap polyester clothing shops I usually never go to. The thrift shop saved my wedding outfit!

Can't wait for the next wedding to come because I fortunately already have my outfit for it sitting in the closet well-prepared.

bridesmaid dresses

Hello loves!

As I got invited to two weddings, this year May turns out to be the wedding month.

Some of you might know I am not exactly a girl for princess dresses and high heels in daily life, however I enjoy getting all dolled up from time to time. I have been thinking about what to wear to these two aforementioned weddings and found a website called Millybridal with some of the loveliest 2014 wedding dresses UK. I browsed through their pictures and found quite a bit of inspiration for what to wear.

I will not be a bridesmaid, but I still couldn't help browsing through their pictures to get inspired. These are some of my favourites:

As you can see I am especially a fan of blue and green because these two compliment my hair colour and complexion best. Furthermore I prefer knee-length dresses (paired with high heels) for my rather short legs. I would love to wear a long dress but it would just make me look even shorter, so knee-length is more flattering. 

As for the rest of the wedding outfit I like to keep it simple: I have the choice between black or nude heels, these are the only two pairs of high heels I own. Furthermore I would have to add a matching cardigan, crop blazer or capelet because our German weather here is not springy at all at the moment.

Jewelry-wise I would always go for delicate elegant simple gold necklacs and/or bracelets.

Like I said, I won't be a bridesmaid and my outfit choicee has not been made yet, but I will let you know about the results soon, you will be able to see them in outfit posts about the two weddings.

wedding weekend

Hello guys!

Last weekend it was my friend Julia's wedding, so today I have some lovely wedding pics for you.

I didn't take photos at church because there were already so many people with cameras, but afterwards at the reception I tried to catch up.

I have decided not to post photos of the different people because I would have to ask them for their permission to do so and we all know that mankind is vain, so probably most persons wouldn't want their picture to appear on my blog anyway. But I asked the bride and she allowed me to use the photo I took with her - thanks a lot Julia, kisses to you!

Here we go with some wedding goodness.

Julia looked so pretty! Her dress was the perfect fairylike girly dress, a vision of simple elegance and her hair was pinned up and looked effortlessly cute. Furthermore as "something borrowed" she wore a 250 year old necklace, a friend's heirloom - so perfect! But the best accessory she wore all day was her radiant dentist smile! :)

My outfit was rather "seasonal sale themed" - the dress and jacket are both sale bargains. However I was glad that I found a simple chic dress in such a great shade of blue and the matching nude jacket and shoes to go with it. The shoes were regular price but still not expensive and now I have a versatile pair of high heels for all upcoming events that require chic shoes.

Above: The location for the reception was a lovely place with archways that looked like they were taken from a mediteranean church.

Below: Instead of writing into a classic guest book the guests could write their congratulations on a vase and/or leave their fingerprints with their names on a canvas with a tree painted on it. Such cute ideas!

Below: the wedding cake and the present that my girls and I gave to the newlyweds - a Chinese take-away box filled with fortune cookies made of felt, which again were filled with money and quotations about love.

It was a lovely wedding and a great day with all of my favourite girls (love ya guys!), so glad they were all there - apart from Jasmin who couldn't join us because she lives in Beijing (so at this point I'm also sending kisses to Beijing -  or rather to Cambodia because she is on vacation there)! Mwah mwah!

Hi guys!

Before you start to congratulate: this was not my wedding! Patrick and I still prefer to wait ;)
But last week one of my girls had her big day, Nina got married. It was about time, she and her boyfriend have had a long distance relationship - a very very long distance to be precise because Wissem used to live in Marocco.
She's a travel agent, so you probably get how they met, don't you? Anyway, they had to wait for so long, delay the wedding date because of missing documents, send important papers around the world and overcome lots of difficulties... and then it finally worked out!
The wedding day was great, everybody was so happy for them and the two were beaming with joy all of the time :)
Farah and me even managed to be at the registry office just in time, two minutes before the ceremony began, phew...





It was so touching when Nina's mother held a little speach about how their relationship had developed and it was such a wonderful moment when both said YES to each other, awww :)
Afterwards outside it rained rose petals and rice for them and the bride's father handed out glasses of bubbly and orange juice for the drivers. The weather was a bit shitty but no one let it rain on their parade.
However it was a bit sad that Wissem's family was not there. He's originally from Tunisia and unfortunately for Tunisians it's not so easy to get any kind of visa for Germany. The good thing is that they are going to repeat the wedding party in Tunisia next year so the groom's family can take part in the celebrations too.
Well, back to the wedding: after lots of congratulating and all the whole party went to the ballroom location as one big honking motorcade.







Hhmmm the wedding cake, it looked beautiful and was really delicious. Of course the bridal couple cut the cake together and handed out the slices to everyone.
It was so snugly to sit in this lovely ballroom with coffee and cake while outside the weather got worse. But oh what a bummer, the weather! Rain, wind, everything you can't use for your wedding day! Fortunately after a while it cleared up and stopped raining, so the bridal couple snapped at the chance to go to the near Benrather Castle to take photos in the palace garden. Farah, Regina and me took advantage of their absence to prepare a little surprise :)

First of all we had ordered some single-use cameras that were put on the tables so every guest had the chance to take pictures. And then we also had collected 52 colourful postcards that we hung up on a rope.
Later on we explained the guests that everyone could take one or more postcards and that there were calendar weeks written on them, so if everybody would send the postcard to Nina and Wissem in the particular stated week they would receive a postcard every week for one year until their first anniversary.
The postcards all found a sender, so now we hope the people won't forget to send them in the right week. Keeping my fingers crossed...





I had also prepared a speech bubble made of cardboard and chalkboard paint where everyone could write or draw something to congratulate the bride and groom in the photos. I'm glad I managed to craft this the night before the wedding because it turned out as a nice party gag that was used for other mischief purposes later on as well.







In the course of the evening even more friends arrived and we all really had a blast - especially Nina and Wissem of course. Yummy food, happy bride and groom and guests, music, dancing, fun and fooling, this day was the full package. It was wonderful and I couldn't have imagined a better wedding celebration for the two of them.
As you can see I took tons of photos (and you're only seeing a tiny bit of them), so for the end of this post here is the rest of what I picked out:


Bummer! The bar didn't serve spirits, so the wedding presents had to be unwrapped and we toasted to the wedding with sambuca.

And of course no girls event without a victory posing photo for our friend Jasmin in Beijing! She's Nina's best friend but couldn't be with us because of her stay abroad in China, so the least we could do was think of her and make a special photo only for our wannabe Chinese ;)
