carry our house to oz

Hello hello!

How have you been?
I am a bit tired today because a big fat thunder storm woke me up last night. The thunder and lightning were directly above our neighbourhood and it sounded like war had broken out. For a moment I thought a tornado would come and carry our house to Oz (haha see what I did there?!).
The badweather front was still lingering around Perth this morning and we had the first rain in 60 days, so I decided it was time to wear my lovely little rain jacket. Polkadots and florals combined on one jacket? That's pretty much perfection if you ask me.

// rain jacket: primark // dress: primark // belt: vintage // bag: kmart // shoes: vans //

As a good blogger I have to talk about the weather, yes I know. And I did in the paragraph above. However even though it is a boring topic I have to additionally say: holy crap does it suck when it rains in 35 °C! Not that I don't know these humid days from our summers at home in Germany, but Australian weather takes air humidity to a new level for me.
I already start to sweat while I put make-up on in the morning (what a hassle!), then usually when I leave the house and walk to the train station a nice relatively cool morning breeze dries the compact powder on my face. Not today though: after the 5 minute walk to the train station I was sweating like crazy! Wet armpits and a sweaty neck with moist hair sticking to it in the morning, mmhhh who doesn't love it?!

Okay, enough complaints about the weather! I'm still no fan of hot or sultry weather but I have to admit I'm handling the weather here much better than expected. Yes yes self-praise is no recommendation, I know. But it's true!
More about this and other aspects of going abroad in the next post because it's time to stop and look back on the last 3 months. Yes that's right I've been in Perth for 3 months already! Crazy, isn't it!?
Time flies...

Happy Thursday and until next post!

Hello there!

Thank you all so much for the positive comments on my last post, I really appreciated them! I'm glad I talked about this topic and let it all out.

Today I had a bit of a blues in the morning. I've been feeling so sick and tired of my daily grind lately and it's really getting me down. I've said this before when I talked about financial dependance, but it's not only about money. I feel stuck in my student life in general  even though I have finished my studies.
Well, the reason for this is that on paper I actually will be a student until the end of September which means I will be limited to working in my two student jobs. It's the office or the coffee shop during the day and my place in the evenings. Sometimes I go out and have a drink at my favourite hangout but that's about it.
I love this city dearly but after the same places and faces for the last 8 years I am so ready to see something new! I have found the best friends and made some of the best memories of my life in Düsseldorf but the thought of going somewhere new soon makes it hard to still be completely happy here.
That's unfair to say actually because I will definitely miss my stomping grounds a lot. But I also miss my boyfriend over in Perth a lot and I feel this wanderlust growing stronger and stronger.
However no visa is ordered, no flight is booked yet and I feel a bit unsettled, restless and impatient.
This really spoiled my mood today.

I'm sick of sitting around and waiting for things to happen. I'm waiting for my bachelor certificate, I'm waiting for the money I need to prepare my year abroad. Waiting sucks!
So to get me out of the blues I thought about things I can do to achieve some progress and move towards my goal of going to Australia.
Well, I will have to clear out my apartment before I go anyway, so I thought I can at last try to already get rid of as much stuff as possible. I had started to sort out things some weeks ago and sold a part of it at the flea market two weeks ago, but there are still enough books, movies, clothes and clutter that have to go.
So I offered my dvds in a Facebook group, put lots of my clothes up for sale on Kleiderkreisel and dragged a big bag full of books to the city library to donate them.
On my way home I grabbed a Vanilla Latte at Starbucks to reward myself. My mood was way better and I felt like I had gotten rid of some more baggage by actually doing something instead of waiting for everything to solve itself. Progress yay! Now I can hopefully sell all of my stuff to make some extra money for the Australia plans.
If you'd like to shop my closet you can see what's up for grabs HERE!
The website is only for Germany, but if there's something you like I offer international shipping too. Just let me know and I'll find out the shipping costs.

Usually I'm rather a pessimist but today I'm really proud of myself for pulling my head out of the dark clouds and getting shit done. Sometimes I really just need a reminder of that we have to do things ourselves to achieve our goals. No one will go and do it for you, you have to do it yourself!
By the way it's the same when it comes to weight loss: I'm still trying to get rid of 3-4 kilos, so I'll do some workout before I go to bed. No one else will do it for me and if I just sit there and wait nothing will happen because the love handles won't just vanish into thin air (such a bummer!).

Happy Tuesday!

polkadots on baker street

Hello everyone,

how are you?
Well, Monday is not exactly the best day to ask this question huh?!
I'm tired and my abs hurt because of yesterday's workout. I believe this Youtube video has trained muscles in my body that I have never ever used before. Damn you, "60 minutes abs, legs and butt with Linda" (in German: Bauch, Beine, Po mit Linda, sehr effektiv)!

To brighten up this weather-wise crazy Monday (sun, rainstorm, sun, rainstorm...) I chose one of my favourite dresses, the navy/white polkadot number my mum gave me back in 2011 for my first business trip to Budapest. I added a denim shirt and the lovely aztec print wool blazer I got at the Esprit outlet after Christmas 2012 and I was ready to go. Funny how this outfit combines a piece from each of the last three years.

I admit the light fabric sneakers were not the best choice for a stormy rainy spring day, but they are supercomfy and go with lots of outfits, so I was stubborn and put them on. Luckily I spent most of today indoors.

Last but not least I would like to introduce you to my new lipstick: P2 Pure Color in "Baker Street". I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, this alone was enough to make me buy this shade. P2 is one of the cheapest brands on the German market, however I was positively surprised about the really nice creamy texture and richness in colour of this lipstick. Although it's not one of these superstay products it lasts pretty long too, survives snacks and cigarette breaks. And to be honest they have such a lovely colour palette that I bought "Oxford Street", a rich deep red, too. So, these lipsticks? Highly recommended!

Have a nice day loves!
