time for pretty dresses

 [EN] Hey all!

It is officially winter here in Australia now, but the rest of the world is anticipating or even already having warm summer days. Aaand summer time is time for pretty dresses, right?
It is the season for glamourous garden parties, ball nights and weddings. And all these events scream for what? Pink Prom Dresses! Why pink? Because it is a fun colour, perfect on summer skin and makes every dress look even more feminine.
Let me be honest with you: I have avoided pink clothes for a long time in my life! I always felt like this colour was too girly for the tomboy I used to be back then. I thought it would make me look ridiculous and as if someone was putting lipstick on the pig.
Last year, however, I bought a lovely pink dress for the very first time and was smitten with it from the moment it arrived in the mail. I figured out that it really does not depend on the colour but on my own attitude when wearing it! I also came to the conclusion that pink can look pretty cool on me especially because I am not a girly girl. So you see, basically I'm just telling you to give pink a chance in your wardrobe if you don't do it already. Believe me, giving it a go might change your mind about it.
Back to this post's actual topic though. I have picked some pink favourites from the lovely online shop PickeDresses to give you some inspiration about what to wear for your next summer events that require a glamour look.
Hope you like my picks!

Glamuröse Gartenparties, Ballnächte, Hochzeiten stehen an. Und nach was schreien all diese Feierlichkeiten? Nach pinken Kleidchen! Warum ausgerechnet Pink?

a little prom dress wish list

Good day my lovelies!

How has your week been so far? I hope everything is fine and you are all having an awesome weekend.
I have finished my first week in my new job now and I am very happy so far. I however first have to get used to a certain routine again and have to figure out how to incorporate taking outfit pics into the daily grind. I'll try my best but for now instead of an outfit I have a lovely wish list for you.
I just let my shopping lust go wild on PickeDresses, an online shop that specialises in Prom Dresses Canada. I put together a list of beautiful dresses I would purchase if I had the money and occasions to wear them. When picking them I focussed on flattering pieces for pale redheads like myself.

Mint green, turquoise and aqua are some of my favourite colours for spring 2015! These fresh shades of green and blue look dazzling with a fair complexion and gingerish blond hair and really compliment Celtic looking girls. Strawberry blond, ginger, fair, pale, freckled - if that's you, then these colours will be highly flattering.
Also look at the fit: tight bustier tops and wide breezy drapy skirts. There is nothing better to bring out the best of your curves! No matter what body type you are, this silhouette will work on 99% of all girls.

My eccentric music teacher in high school used to say "Black is the colour of the diva."
Wasn't this woman absolutely right? Black is simple, minimalistic, subtle and still can be bold, dramatic and stylish. Black prom dresses radiate timeless elegance and make you look classic and classy. In case of fair skin and copper hair a black prom dress will even add a touch of witch and/or gothic to your look.
Fantastic side effect if you ask me!

Emerald green - aaand we are back to the Celtic theme here!
It is one of my favourite colours of all times! Again, just like the mint and aqua, it simply is very flattering for the Celtic pale redhead kind of girl.
Be it a gown with subtle drapery or a princess dress with a dash of glitter, emerald green will make you shine!
Additional  fun fact: as some of you might know I'm a big Ireland fan!

Don't let anyone tell you you can't pull off hot red! I've heard people say that a lot! It is a common rumour that red-haired ladies shouldn't wear hot red. I say "Bullshit!" because bold shades of red look amazing on pale gingers, especially combined with black accessories such as high heels, a clutch and elegant gloves.

What do you think? Do you like my little wish list?
Which of the dresses is your favourite?

Have a lovely day!

how to wear a prom dress in winter

Hello dolls!

Happy new year and all the best for 2015!
How was your New Year's Eve? Mine was relaxed and unspectacular because I stayed at home with the boyfriend.
As I don't have a post with a fancy New Year's Eve outfit or anything like that, I will move on straight to dressing for the new year. 2015 has just begun and I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of occasions to get all dolled up for you (and me), right?!
Here in Australia it's the hottest time of the year right now, but many other places in the world have wintery cold, frost and snow, so I thought it would be nice to collect some tips for wearing prom dresses in winter. There might be anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, baptisms, prom balls and whatnot coming your way this year and in case any of these will take place in the cold season, let me show you how you stay warm in your fancy dress.

These two dresses above are my examples. I found them at PickeDresses, a website that sells Prom Dresses Online. I picked a short and a long dress to cover both styles with the tips so you can compare the different ideas. Hopefully even though the anniversary, birthday, baptism or whatever takes place in winter, that doesn't mean you have to be in the cold somewhere outside for longer than a maximum of 30 minutes. My tips are only for spending a short time in the cold, if you have to be outside for a longer period of time please wear a real winter jacket!

For the short dress I would recommend a crop jacket because a long one would destroy the silhouette. If you go for faux fur you kill two birds with one stone: it keeps you extra warm and looks very glamourous. Please no real fur though, I don't support that!
As the jacket has long sleeves you will only need a pair of cute short gloves or if it's not freezing you can also go with bare hands of course.
As for cold legs that's a bit tricky with a short dress, right? Well, the best solution is to wear a pair of tights and  also keep a second pair of tights ready to put on over the first pair before you have to go outside, say for example in the car or on the toilet before the outdoor part of the celebrations takes place.

For the long dress I would choose an elegant black poncho with a cozy faux fur lining. The poncho's silhouette creates a dramatic look with a long gown and the faux fur adds an extra touch of elegance.
If your dress is not tight around the hips I also recommend a thin cotton stretch skirt, which can easily be put on and taken off.
In addition I would go for long gloves to warm your arms underneith the loose poncho sleeves and cozy leg warmers that are invisible under the long dress. Both gloves and leg warmers can easily be put on before going outside and taken off again for indoor celebrations as well.

I hope this helps you for dressing up on cold days!
Have a lovely day!

what to wear for new year's eve

Hello loves!

I'm still going through my Christmas pics to put together an outfit post for you. As long as this is not ready to be uploaded, instead let's talk New Year's Eve! That's right, I'm adressing the topic that's unpopular every year. We all have closed the Christmas chapter now or will at least do so in the course of the next days - but what about New Year's Eve?
I always tend to forget about it in all the Christmas hassle. You plan where you spend your Christmas holidays, pick outfits based on these plans and think you've got your life together - and then suddenly Christmas is over already and leaves you with only a couple of days to catch up on the NYE plans.
This year however it's different because I'm a clever girl and have already thought about the new year celebrations for you!
I found a lovely Canadian online shop called PickeDresses which offers a wide range of beautiful Montreal Prom Dresses. Okay I'm not planning to visit a prom ball but these dresses are so pretty and elegant that you can simply wear them for a glamourous New Year's Eve celebration too.

I have picked the two dresses above to give you some style inspiration for your festive New Year's Eve celebrations.
If you ask me, you can never go wrong with sparkling cocktail dresses! The red one is an eye-catcher because of the colour and the adorable bow, the black/silver one is a bit more subtle but stil glamourous enough with the sequined bustier top. Both of them are statement dresses that basically don't need any further ado, just a nice pair of shoes and a clutch bag.

I would combine the red party princess dress with some elegant simple golden accessories like the heels and clutch above. The red sparkly earrings are a nice touch for some extra glamour.
The black/silver dress is a bit cooler and less girly, so I would go for a rocker kind of style here with black ankle boots and a black leather clutch, even a biker leather jacket if it's cold outside. For an extra portion of glam rock I would add a silver glitter headband on messy out-of-bed hair.

Another tip for NYE: carry heel cushioning pads and compact powder in your clutch. The pads to prevent aching feet in high heels and the compact powder to keep your face and hairline matte - and to conceal potential makeup faux-pas like runny mascara or bleeding lipstick.

Have fun preparing for NYE ladies! Happy Saturday!

what to wear for christmas

Hello lovelies!

How are you? Can you believe Christmas is only  one more week away? Time flies!
So how about some last minute Christmas outfit inspiration anyone?

Choosing an outfit always depends on your plans of course but let's be honest: no matter where you celebrate, it won't hurt to wear a pretty dress right? Be it a fine dining restaurant, your grandma's living room, a public party, church etc. - wherever you go a chic dress can't be the wrong choice. Okay except for maybe voluntary work in the soup kitchen, fine! That goes without saying though, doesn't it?

My plans for Christmas are still a bit vague but I will, of course, spend it with Jarryd and his family because I'm sooo far away from my family and friends in Germany this year. I don't want to spoiler too much, but I will definitely wear two beautiful new dresses I bought in the sale some weeks ago.

To inspire you a bit I have looked through an online shop called PickeDresses which offers a wide range of the most stunning Prom Dresses. They ship internationally within approximately 4-8 working days so there is still time to order if you find the perfect frock girls.
As mentioned before I already have my dresses together for Christmas but I still took the opportunity to pick my two favourite prom dresses from their website to show you how I would style them. These two below are my picks and to make it more interesting I went for a short and a long dress.

I picked the yellow one because this colour would look amazing with my copper/blonde hair. Also the cut is very flattering for my body shape and will conceal a little gut after all the good Christmas food.
I am not a fan of rhinestones and sequins, so the subtle beads on the waist are a perfect little detail that's not too much kitsch.
The maxi dress caught my eye because of this unique shade of midnight blue, which is also a good colour choice for redheads like me. The cut and fit with the sexy bodice and the flowing skirt don't need much further ado to make you look elegant.

Golden Christmas

As I would like the dresses to look extra festive for Christmas I would go for golden accessories head to toes. I know I said I'm not a fan of rhinestones and sequins but I have to admit that a little dose of glitter glams up every look.

What do you think? Like the dresses?

Happy Wednesday!
