[EN] Hey all!

Sorry, I'm very lazy at the moment blog-wise. It was my 29th birthday last Saturday and I believe that getting older has made me slow down a bit. I have been training martial arts over the past months, have lost weight, became fitter and kept going - but at the moment I've got my foot on the brake a bit again. Being abroad for one year makes life so much more turbulent! I had just gotten used to my job at the recruiting agency and loved it but after 5 months there I have to leave again now. I'll go to the countryside outside of Perth and work on a horse farm to get my visa extension. New environment, new people, new daily routine. Life on a working holiday visa seems to never stand still which is exciting but also a bit exhausting. So right now I'm taking a tiny break from stress to prepare myself for the new challenge on the farm. I want to start mentally fit and balanced there, so right now I work out less and treat myself more, binge-watch all my favourite shows and put my feet up at home.
I feel a tiny bit bad about having gained one or two kilos but I know I will be on my feet all day soon and get rid of them again in no time.

[EN] My birthday was awesome by the way! Jarryd made me pancakes for breakfast, took me out for a coffee, spent the whole afternoon at the zoo with me, then afterwards took me out for dinner to a lovely tapas bar and to top it all off bought me a huge frozen yogurt. Then we snuggled up in bed and watched a movie. That's pretty much a perfect day to me!

I hope you're all well. Have a nice Wednesday!

[EN] Ello people!

I had a rather quiet and uneventful weekend and am finally back with a new outfit post. Now that we are heading straight towards winter time here in Australia it gets dark early (5.30 pm) and I don't have the chance to take outfit photos after work anymore because it's already dark when I get home.
I'm trying to adapt by taking photos in the morning before work or when I'm on lunch break but neither am I good at getting up earlier, nor a fan of taking pics with the self-timer in the middle of the day with heaps of people walking past. I'm sure all of you who have done it before know these weird stares you get.
Jarryd always does a good job taking my photos on the weekend when we are out and about together, so I'll just try to stick to this routine too.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[EN] Okay, let's talk outfit now for a second.
I am SO in love with my cozy new asymmetric cardigan! I had been looking for such a piece in such a beautiful shade of army green forever and finally found it the other day. I shouldn't have spent the money as I have to save up but that day I was so frustrated. I spent ages at the Department of Transport to get my German driving license changed over for Australia and they were just such idiots and I was soo upset, so I went to the mall afterwards to reward myself for not killing anyone that afternoon! The tartan dress had to come home with me too because you can never have enough checkered pieces in your wardrobe and the cardigan alone did just not make up enough for the stupidity I had to put up with before.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[DE] Okay, jetzt mal was zum Outfit.

[EN] What about you? Have you rewarded yourself with clothes, accessories or make-up for something lately? Leave me a comment.

Btw it would be uber cool if you could give my Facebook page a like please! :)

Have a lovely day!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Erzählt mal was in den Kommentaren.

Ich wünsche euch einen wundervollen Tag!

my top 5 favourite documentaries

[EN] Hey all!
I have mentioned it before here and there, but in case you don't know: I am an absolute sucker for documentaries!
It all started when the German TV shows got worse and commercial breaks got way too long, so I only used the internet to watch what I wanted to see.
As a poor student and with the strict German media laws I was limited to YouTube, which is fine because I'm not too fuzzy about quality as long as I can see and hear something interesting.
In the course of the years I got hooked on all types of documentaries because YouTube is an endless source and I still come across new interesting videos every week. My favourite topics are ocean and space (both very relaxing), criminology and forensics (just my morbid side), mysteries and ghost stories (my weirdo side) and all sorts of animal and travel documentaries.
Below I've put together my top 5 for you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Planet Ocean - A more than stunning 1.5 hour long film that explores the bond between mankind and the ocean. I could watch this over and over again, it's beautiful!

Reviving the Dead with DIY Forensics: Still Life - This documentary is not for a weak stomach as it shows some pretty graphic images. It tells the story of a forensic dentist who developed a method to identify unidentified mummy corpses in a Mexican town that's ruled by drug wars. He makes the identification of the dead bodies possible by soaking them in a special liquid until they go back to their initial shape and volume. At the same time the docu depicts the city's desperate struggle with drug gangs that kill innocent people every day.

Species Hunter - This is a really interesting docu about the Dutch primatologist Dr. Marc van Roosmalen and one of his field trips along the Amazon river to discover new animal species. Very nice lush green footage of the Amazon jungle and an exciting hunt for unknown animals.

I Have Seen The Earth Change, Mongolia - A beautiful and unusual documentary about Mongolia and its last traditional nomad families. Stunning images of the Mongolian landscape paired with the impressive story of 70-year old Marush Narankhuu, a nomad herd matriarch with 14 children and 40 grandchildren.
I Have Seen The Earth Change is a series of documentaries that covers human stories which tackle global changes, there are episodes about other countries available on Youtube too.

Spooked: The Ghosts of Waverly Hills Sanatorium (trailer only because I couldn't find the full docu online) - This is my favourite simply because I just love ghost stories and the history of haunted places. Waverly Hills Sanatorium is one of the most haunted places (if not THE most haunted one) in the world and the documentary tells the story of how the sanitarium came to its ghosts and provides paranormal footage as a proof.
Let me be honest with you, I merely love this because it's a very American and very entertaining docu that's presented with a lot of "over the top" stuff just to thrill the audience. If you watch it take it with a pinch of salt...

These were my top 5 and I hope you like them.
What are your favourite documentaries? I am always on the hunt for new interesting ones, so please leave me your suggestions in the comments!

coffee and street art

[EN] Hello lovelies!

I'm  bit behind with posting all the fabulous posts I have prepared for you, so here we go with another Perthian street art gem.
Remember when I told you about FORM, the non-profit organisation that brings street artists to Perth and organises blank spaces for them to place their works? I told you about it here. Thanks to this organisation there have been heaps of new murals popping up everywhere over the past weeks.
What you see in the pics is - wait for it - a public toilet. Yes, really! It's located in the middle of my hood, East Vic Park, in a car park next to a busy supermarket. Its four walls show artworks of different artists, one on each side.
When we took these photos two weeks ago the fourth wall was still in progress and we caught one of the artists in the act. Live street art so to speak!
So we watched the mural emerge for a while and afterwards grabbed a coffee at our favourite coffee shop The Imp. Like my new shirt?

Moondyne Joe Festival in Toodyay

[EN] Hello loves!

I'm still trying to publish more than one post per week but at the moment it doesn't really work. One the one hand it sucks because I have so much more to show and tell you guys, but on the other hand it's good because it means I spend my time working, training Muay Thai and enjoying myself on the weekends.
Yesterday for example I had a lovely day in the countryside. We went to Toodyay, a place one hour North of Perth, that hosted a Moondyne Joe Festival.
And you're like: "Moondyne who?"
I learned that this guy is a local legend. He was Western Australia's most famous bushranger and petty criminal. He is so well known around here because he managed to escape from prison several times. There even was an "escape-proof" cell built just for him. Toodyay is one of the places where he was locked up before he was eventually put in Fremantle Prison in Perth and later died in the Fremantle Mental Asylum.
The festival in Toodyay however was not only in memory of Moondyne Joe, it was also held as a festival for vintage cars. Hey, it's a rural community, so why not combine two fun things to create the town's biggest event of the year?!

Have a lovely day!

Tschö tschö, bis zum nächsten Mal!
