meet you in the middle like it's going out of style

Hello lovelies!

How are you?
Another eventful, busy and awesome week has almost come to an end. I finally handed in the official registration for my bachelor thesis and now I'm excitedly waiting for my deadline. Furthermore I have worked at the office a lot to get some extra money for the upcoming city trips in October, which I'm so looking forward to - Budapest, Prague, Rome, it will be so amazing! As for the bit of free time I had, I spent it mostly hanging out with friends after work.
On Thursday there was a really nice barbecue night at one of the local (and also one of my favourite) pubs called Brause, it was perfect weather to sit outside and have some beer and sausages. There used to be a gas station where the pub is, so they still have this typical roofed fore court to host outdoor events in the summer time, e.g. video game nights, music quizes, small concerts, readings and so on. There's always a bunch of friendly, nerdy and funny people there and the beer is cheap, so if you happen to be in the neighbourhood one day, then come over and say hi.

Yesterday was pretty fun as well: a couple of guys from university filmed a short video for the "Long Night of Sciences" in September. A friend of mine said they needed some helping hands, so I joined them and eventually ended up running around in the park at night in a cowl together with another monk, a clown, a vampire and a witch. I bet the video will be awesome, we had so much fun filming it!

By the way, the outfit is one of my most favourite casual outfits ever! It involves all clothes I like best: jeans, black shirt and plaid shirt. And also the most comfortable shoes I ever owned, the good old Minnetonkas. Urban Pocahontas style with a bit of rock and grunge - voilà, that's totally me.
Hope you like the outfit - and also the new spot I discovered in my apartment to take photos.

Happy Saturday!

I've got my heart strung up on clothing line

Hello lovelies!

Gosh what an eventful week, I'm so glad the weekend has finally arrived now. I had lots of fun the last days but it also was pretty exhausting to be out and about all day. I worked until 6 and never came home before 11 pm. On Monday I had dinner with some friends, on Tuesday I saw Elysium (which was awesome!!), on Wednesday I had martial arts class and yesterday I went to Cologne to see the Chuck Ragan concert (which was more than awesome!!). Tonight a friend cancelled our date so I will finally have some time to rest - I have to be fit for more action tomorrow.

This outfit is from Monday when it was a little cooler outside, hence the jacket and hat. I hadn't worn this dress in ages and thought I should take it out again because it's pretty and deserves to be seen in daylight from time to time. The last time I wore it was to a friend's birthday one year ago - isn't it actually creepy how I can't keep a single maths formula in my head but remember when I wore which dress the last time?! Freak much?!
Anyway, the cute floral dress and the casual hat, jacket and shoes were the perfect mix for me that day. How do you like it?

Alright, the first thing I will do to celebrate that it's the weekend is take a little nap - aaah the pleasures of a Friday afternoon.
What are you up to later?
Hope you're having a lovely day!

Until next time,

PersunMall autumn/winter wishlist

Hi guys!

It's the middle of the week already and here in Düsseldorf summer doesn't want to give up, so the temperatures have been rising again lately. Despite the unsteady summer I'm already ready for autumn! I have been browsing the web for some nice autumn pieces and fortunately was contacted by PersunMall to take a look at their site. They have tons of lovely items, so I put together a little wish list of what I would love to get for transition and the coming autumn/winter season.

These are definitely some really cute pieces I would rock for autumn/winter. I especially need to stock up on cozy scarves and a pretty wool coat.
What are your wishes for the colder season clothing-wise? How do you like my selection?
If you're in the mood for (window) shopping you should definitely head over and check out PersunMall's online shop. You can also follow them on Facebook or read their blog.

Have a lovely day!

Hello folks!

A warm welcome to the new followers who have joined Bad Taste Toast in the course of the last few days and a big *Thank You!* for following along and being interested in my little old life!

How was your weekend?
I hope not as exhausting as mine. Well actually I shouldn't complain because it was my own fault, nobody forced me to go out or dragged me to the clubs against my will but pheeew, it was way more eventful than planned. Remember when I was not sure about staying at home or going out on Friday? Well, "Miss I Can't Say No" decided to go and grab some drinks with a friend and his new flat mate....and ended up running to and fro between two clubs, dancing to nu metal songs from the 90s or strange undefinable electronic music in turns, getting home at 7 am. It was a total blast but - damn I'm too old for this shit.
Then a similar story happened yesterday night.
But I successfully stick to my new "no dates with douche bags" resolution and can proudly say mission definitely accomplished so far.

As for the outfit today the two most important pieces in this simple casual look were both bought on Ebay. The Cancer Bats shirt is a second hand bargain that I got together with an Alexisonfire shirt as a set in an auction. I just love the colour combo of grey and pink so much, especially paired with classic blue denim! It's comfy, it's cool, so there's nothing better when you're too lazy to get dressed in the morning. I'm a fan of plain and simple jeans and t-shirt days.
Another new Ebay purchase is the tote bag (from Jute Haus via shirt-customs) which speaks right from my heart - okay maybe it speaks English with a really hard German accent, but still from my heart. By the way, if you don't happen to know how Germans can butcher the English language you should be glad and not click here.

Alrighty, I hope everyone had a good start into the new week!
I will make the best of Monday by grabbing some Mexican food and hanging out with friends and new acquaintances later.

Until next time,

when you were stuck at the crash site

Hi loves!

After the excursion to the wedding outfit, which was unusually chic for my kind of style, I'm now back with something "totally me" just in time to herald the weekend.
The temperatures have dropped a little here so that this week I gladly wore my beloved tights and beanies again and mixed the rather autumnal pieces with the floral summer dress. If you ask me this is a perfect transition outfit because it combines the best of both seasons.

So, what's been going on lately? I finally got my act together, kicked my own lazy butt and finished the preparations for the bachelor thesis. I'm finally convinced to officially register and write this shit! I'm so fed up with being a student, I want to move on to the next level. I want a fixed income, a job where I can leave work behind at the end of the day instead of coming home and resting but having a bad conscience because I should actually spend my nights with my head in the books.
After something particular happened last weekend I'm also done with dating. I won't talk about the incident, but let's just say life taught me another lesson about dishonest people and this made me so mad at my whole situation that I decided to say "Screw it!" and quit the whole dating thing immediately. I don't want to meet more douche bags, I'm fine without them and in the next three months I will rather concentrate on university and be a good student for once.
My new plan is to still go out but cut off a conversation on the spot if it should come down to the topic of going on a date. I'm no longer willing to do this, I won't waste my time on all these idiots out there. I don't know any girl who has found her Mr. Right at a club, pub or other party location anyway, so there's no point in trying. Period.

Alright, let's talk weekend plans! I'm not sure about tonight, should I stay at home and curl up in bed with a movie or go out and have some drinks with a friend and his new flat mate? I might decide spontaneously after a little nap later. For tomorrow night a dubstep party it is.
What are your weekend plans?

Have a fab Friday!
