greek saturday

Hi guys!

Sorry, I won't write much today because I have a bad cold. Patrick infected me and now we're both hanging around at home and feeling like a picture of misery.
So I just wanted to show you the pictures from Saturday: our monthly ladies night, this time at a Greek restaurant. Some of us also went to a 90's party afterwards but not me so I don't have photos of it :)
By the way sorry for the poor quality of the photos, I'm not content at all. Unfortunately (as you might have noticed before) my camera is not the best and the light in the restaurant and afterwards in my kitchen was terrible...

What I wore:

shirt: promod, cardi: mango, pants: pimkie, belt: topshop, shoes: ebay, bag + bangle: accessorize, necklace: h&m

What I ate:

starter: flaky pastry rolls filled with spinach, dip for it was tzatziki

main dish: souvlakia (meat skewers) with onions and chips

dessert: crêpes with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce

yummyyy :)

Most of the photos from the restaurant turned out as blurry rubbish :-/

So that's the poor result of impressions about my Saturday for you. I imploringly hope that I'll get together the money for a simple beginner-friendly DSLR soon...

Alright, now I need to go back to bed and to my tea and to my cough drops and nasal spray ;)

Have a nice Monday!

don't bar your daughters from having style

Hi guys!

How are you doing? I had a very nice Friday despite the rainy autumny last days of summer over here in Düsseldorf. I had lots of stuff to do this morning, but in the afternoon - after handing in a paper for uni - I decided that it was time for a little shopping spree.
Normally the city is full of people on Fridays, especially the shopping streets, but today it was cloudy and rather cold and it rained. These are my favourite days to go shopping because the streets are almost empty and you don't sweat like hell in the sticky shops. I don't mind rain at all.

cardi + shirt: h&m, skirt: thrifted, scarf: ebay, tights: accessorize, boots: bullboxer, tote bag; emily the strange

I happened to hear a dialogue of a father and his teenage daughter in the changing rooms at Zara. First of all: how annoying is it to go shopping with your father? I mean okay maybe he pays everything you want, but as far as I know most men are too impatient to accompany women on shopping sprees and it really sucks when you always have a voice in your ear asking "Can we go now?". Well, in this case with the girl and her father it was even worse because in addition to being impatient the father also tried to consult his daughter to make her decide faster. He was like "Oh no Joy (annotation: her name) this doesn't suit you. You know it." and "No I told you before this doesn't suit you so don't discuss with me!"... Damn, I think I would have stormed off if I were Joy...

bangle: accessorize, fake leather bracelet: six

I tried the side braid with the flower clip again today. I also wore this last Saturday, it's my favourite alternative to wearing my hair down since then.

...What kind of father is he to bar his daughter from developing and finding her own style? Well, it's okay if parents tell their teen daughters to not dress like a slut, but the girl at Zara was trying on a normal striped blouse (I saw this when I left the changing rooms).
My parents always let me wear what I wanted, even if I looked like a dork :) And it never hurt me, I've found my style in the course of the last few years - at least I think so. But as style is an ever-changing component in life, it's certainly not over yet.
So all you fathers out there: don't consult your daughters on shopping sprees please, except you are Karl Lagerfeld, a male version of Patricia Field or someone like that !

These are the photos I took during my little shopping spree:

I loved the cardi but I wasn't sure about the dress because it's not so flattering in the tummy area. What do you think, should I go and get it though next week?

I almost died over these adorable high waist shorts and they were so cheap (9 Euro)! But they were way too short to look good on me with my chubby legs.

Aren't these great colours? I almost bought this, but H&M blouses never fit me up above. I don't know why they cut their stuff so tight around the breast area, don't they no that not all girls have the same bra size?

Aaaw this is a shirt from the new Zara TRF fall collection! They have several different t-shirts with these lovely prints. Looks like an illustration from an old children's book doesn't it? It immedietaly reminded me of Beatrix Potter illustrations :)

And this is what I brought home:
(lovely transition pieces in autumny colours)

cardi and scarf: h&m, belt: new yorker, shirt: zara

nail polish: artdeco ultra quick dry no.70 (light taupe), squirrel necklace: h&m

Have a great weekend!

If I were a garden

Hi guys!

If I were a garden I'd be an H&M garden because they had the prettiest floral designs this year :)
I snatched this lovely floral dress from their Garden Collection in the sale for 7 Euro. So good that I waited for them to mark down the prices instead of trying to get the pieces when the collection was launched :)

dress + tights: h&m, belt + necklace: thrifted, cardi: zara, boots: vintage

I thought the dress would be too short for me to wear it as a dress actually, but it turned out okay although I wish my legs were skinnier. Well, the endowments, whatever. I had so much fun combining the florals with the polkadot tights, I was so inspired to try out some more print mixing this summer and I'm trying to continue it in fall. Due to one of my favourite blogs Delightfully Tacky I never run out of motivation and inspiration concerning mixed prints.

To return to the short dress topic: What do you think? Should girls with rather chubby legs or love-handles or whatever try to avoid mini dresses or skirts? Or should they don't give a damn and wear whatever they like?
I've been thinking about it much lately and I'm curious about your opinion. I, personally, neither feel offended by curvy girls who wear minis, nor am I totally excited about it. In my opinion it's simply cool to take your body as it is without cutting back.
What about you guys?

Have a wonderful day! :)

online finds #4

Hi guys!

I have another one of my online finds posts for you today, so I hope you enjoy this:

I found an amazing shop on DaWanda: LikeLife.
Look at this shirt, it's so cool. I plan to buy it soon :) They offer some more really cool print shirts so if you like the one above you have to check out the other designs too.

This is the "Kodjos butterflies" aquarel from cadeaux-art, isn't it pretty? I love the paintings in this shop, most of them are Africa-inspired and simply gorgeous.

Look how pretty these are! The "Gabriel fabric rose necklace" from brideblu.
I want! :)

These are the superlovely "Thank you robot" greeting cards from Sweet Harvey, I love the cute little yellow fellows on the cards. They have really nice cards for all occasions and you can also check out their blog here.

The "Kissing Kiddies earrings" from Reyney, God sometimes I'm tempted to get my ears pierced because of pretty items like these.

One of my favourite Ebay shops: California Vintage Connect. They have so much pretty stuff online, for example this adorable jumpsuit. Oh if only the shipping wasn't that expensive to Europe...

Alright, that's it for today. Hope you likeed it :)

Have a wonderful day!

P.S. I lost 3 readers during the last two weeks, is my blog becoming boring?

Hi guys!

I'm a bit late with this, but I want to let you know that I had the pleasure to be a guest blogger for Be In Style, they asked me to write something fashion-related. So I got my little brain working and wrote a post about skirts. As I said, it's a bit late because the thing was posted on Tuesday, but if you'd still like to read it click HERE.

I'd like to thank Be In Style again for giving me this opportunity :)
